Help Us Build a Makerspace in Langsdale Library!

Makerspaces are the perfect place for creation and invention

Langsdale Library MakerSpace A Project of Langsdale Library

What is a Makerspace?

Makerspaces are creative, DIY spaces where students can gather to work on projects, collaborate, network, create, invent, and learn. They also afford students access to equipment and resources typically not available to individuals working alone.

Makerspaces often focus on 21st century skills in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. Typically the skills learned in a makerspace pertain to electronics, 3D printing, 3D modeling, coding, and robotics.

Universities across the nation are installing Makerspaces and libraries, by their very nature, are the ideal locations for such a space. We want to bring one to Langsdale Library, but we can't do it without you.

We need your help!

Langsdale needs new equipment to provide our students with a Makerspace. This equipment includes:

  • 3D printers
  • scanners
  • Arduinos, an open-source electronic prototyping platform used to build interactive electronic objects
  • Raspberry Pi products which help students learn computer programming

With these tools UB students will be able to explore, invent, and learn new skills. So please help us give UB students a place to unleash their creativity with your gift today!
